Idaho permits adult adoption. The adopter must be a resident adult who stood in the role of parent for more than one year while the adoptee was a minor. If not, the court must find after investigation that a substantial family relationship exists. The adoptee consents, along with the adoptee's spouse if there is one. The case is filed in the district court of the county where you live, and a hearing is contemplated. Adult cases often finish in 4-8 weeks.
