How do I get a copy of the adoption order in Colorado?
ColoradoAfter the finalization hearing, the District Court produces the signed Order of Adoption. Here is how to get copies:
At the hearing:
- The judge signs the Order of Adoption during the hearing
- Ask the court clerk for certified copies right after the hearing
- Some courts provide copies the same day; others mail them within 1–2 weeks

- We recommend 3–5 certified copies — you will need them for:
- Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Vital Records (to request new birth certificate)

Cost per certified copy: Typically $5–$25 per copy
If you need copies later:
